OTIS Tank Inspection Service

OTIS®(Oil Tank Inspection System) is a robot that follows a digital inspection grid and collects up to 200,000 ultrasonic scans for computerized analysis.  This model is used with water and light and middle distillates, containing 6 inches or less of sludge, with cleaning available as an option.

OTIS Tank Inspection Service

The robot has 8 on board transducers, a sonar unit, 2 navigational pingers and an onboard camera (for clear fluids).  A squeegee clears a path of sediment in order to get better data from the floor.

For inspection this robot is normally equipped with a single pump that pumps clean fluid from above onto the floor to clear any remaining sediment.

OTIS-200®(Oil Tank Inspection System Model 200) is a robot that follows a digital inspection grid and collects up to 200,000 ultrasonic scans for computerized analysis.  This model is used primarily with middle distillates containing 6 inches or more of sludge, with cleaning available as an option.

The robot has 8 on board transducers, a sonar unit, 2 navigational pingers and an onboard camera (for clear fluids).  A squeegee clears a path of sediment in order to get better data from the floor.

For inspection this robot can be equipped with either a double or single hydraulic pump.  The double pump enables the use of the suction plenum to suck up debris and the discharge to pump clean fluid from above onto the bottom to clear a path.  For cleaning purposes the discharge pump breaks up the sludge on the tank bottom making it easy for the suction plenum to pump the sludge out of the tank.

In-Service Robotic Tank Cleaning -- Any robot in the OTIS® family can provide tank cleaning with or without conducting an inspection.  The robot is fit with either a single or double hydraulic pump.  For loose or minimal amounts of sludge the single stage pump is all that is required.  The single pump sucks up sludge from the suction plenum and sends the sludge out of the tank.  The double pump has the same suction capabilities but enables the use of a discharge pump to blast hardened sludge into manageable pieces for the suction plenum to suck up.  Sludge and sediment is pumped from the bottom of the tank to a frac tank where clean product can be separated from the waste. The clean product is then pumped back into the tank and the waste can be treated in the manner dictated by the client.  Hard Sludge can also be broken down through the use of augers mounted on a robot in extreme cases before being sucked out of the tank.

Quik-Look® Video Inspection Service is provided using either a hydraulically or manually operated camera.  The manual Quick-Look® is mainly used for tanks less than 50’ diameter.  The hydraulic Quik-Look® is powered by two hydraulic motors controlled by the operator who remains at ground level.

Quik-Look® cameras have a full range of motion laterally and vertically.  A spotlight and flood light illuminate the area and the focus of the camera. The camera was built to have incredible zoom capability making it common place to read markings on the roof supports.

This visual inspection service is performed while the tank is in service.  It provides a real time and current record of corrosion and scaling on the underside of the roof.  Any faults are easily visible such as leaking valves and missing or damaged roof supports.
